The Babson Collaborative invites students from member institutions to establish a local chapter of the Babson Collaborative Student Network (BCSN) at their school. BCSN chapters are student-lead organizations that bring together students who want to connect with other chapters around the world for educational, cultural and social interactions. The Babson Collaborative will share resources, create incentives, and create platforms for chapter leaders to make connections, but the success of each BCSN chapter is determined by the engagement of each chapter’s leadership team and members, with the guidance of a faculty advisor.

HOW DO I START A BCSN CHAPTER AT MY SCHOOL?
How Can I Start a BCSN Chapter at my College?
Starting an BCSN Chapter at your college can be a rewarding experience that allows you to connect with like-minded students, learn from each other, and potentially even launch your own ventures. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get started:
1. Define Your Goals and Vision
Determine the purpose and goals of your BCSN Chapter. What do you want to achieve, and what is the club's long-term vision? This will help you create a clear mission statement.
2. Gather a Core Team
Recruit a group of motivated and dedicated students who share your passion for entrepreneurship. This core team will help you organize and run the chapter.
3. Seek Approval and Support
Contact your college's student affairs office (or equivalent) to understand the requirements and procedures for starting a new club. You may need to draft a constitution and submit it for approval. If you are not able to create the BCSN Chapter as an official club, speak to your advisor and explore if there are other options, like existing as an unofficial club.
4. Create Guidelines/Rules
Outline the club's purpose, structure, membership requirements, and meeting schedule. Be sure to include details about how decisions will be made and leadership roles within the club. Your school may have specific requirements.
5. Recruit Members
Promote your club through campus bulletin boards, social media, flyers, and word-of-mouth. Attend student organization fairs or orientation events to attract potential members.
6. Host Information Sessions
Organize an introductory meeting or information session to explain the club's goals, activities, and benefits. Use this opportunity to engage with prospective members and answer their questions.
7. Plan Regular Meetings and Activities
Set a consistent meeting schedule (e.g., weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) and plan activities that align with your club's mission. Activities can include guest speaker events, workshops, hackathons, pitch competitions, and networking sessions.
8. Secure Funding
Explore funding options from your college or university, such as student government grants or sponsorship from local businesses. A budget will help you cover event expenses and resources.
9. Collaborate with Other Organizations
In addition to the global network of BCSN chapters, you can also collaborate with related clubs, departments, or organizations at your school to broaden your reach and access additional resources.
10. Establish an Online Presence
Create a website or social media profiles for your club to keep members and interested individuals informed about upcoming events, resources, and updates. You can also join the BCSN social media channels and use those to stay informed and promote your events and news.
11. Utilize Networking Opportunities
Encourage chapter members to attend BCSN events and the events your chapter hosts for your school community. This can help them connect with mentors and potential collaborators.
12. Measure Success and Adapt
Regularly assess your club's progress and impact. Gather feedback from members and adjust your activities and events based on their input.
13. Stay Committed
Building a successful student club takes time and effort. Stay committed, and continuously seek ways to improve and grow your organization.

Create an Inclusive Environment
Ensure that your club is welcoming and inclusive. Make every member feel valued and respected regardless of their background or experience level.
Clearly Define Roles and Responsibilities

BCSN CHANGEMAKER AWARD
BCSN CHANGEMAKER AWARD
The BCSN Changemaker Award is presented to student members of BCSN who have demonstrated entrepreneurial leadership* in the service of others. While the individual(s) must be a member of a BCSN Chapter, the efforts they are being recognized for do not have to be directly connected to BCSN. This award will not be given every year, only when we have nominees worthy of the high honor. Winner(s) will receive a Babson Collaborative award and will be featured in various ways/on various platforms including, at minimum, the BCSN website, Babson Collaborative newsletter, and Babson LinkedIn posts, all of which will reach a global audience.
* How Babson’s defines Entrepreneurial Leadership: Entrepreneurial leaders harness the power of relationships and put people first, and that enables them to take on, and solve, daunting challenges. Entrepreneurial leaders solve problems collaboratively. They value action and are outcomes-oriented. They believe that things can be better, and that they can make a meaningful impact. They inspire an entrepreneurial approach in others, which has the potential to create strong risk managers, exceptional uncertainty navigators, and highly skilled ambiguity explorers. These three traits work together, enabling entrepreneurial leaders to take action, solve problems, and create value while others are still analyzing the situation. This goes far beyond business, allowing entrepreneurial leaders to impact organizations, the economy, and society.
This award was inspired by four BCSN students from Universidad del Desarrollo in Chile who utilized their network and resources to evacuate a peer studying at the American University in Afghanistan as the Taliban captured Afghanistan in 2021 and resettled her safely in Santiago, Chile.
