The Collaborative Champion

The institutional Collaborative Champion(s) plays a critical role in maximizing the value of membership in The Babson Collaborative. They enroll and encourage colleagues to engage with the Collaborative, and serve as the primary contact for the Collaborative leadership team.

Collaborative Champion Roundtables

Quarterly online gatherings created especially for the designated Babson Collaborative Champion at each member institution. These roundtables are designed to strengthen that connection while also creating more opportunities for Champions to connect directly with one another.

On behalf of the Babson Academy, welcome to the Babson Collaborative and thank you for taking on the important role of Collaborative Champion!  As director of the Collaborative, I am here to assist you as you navigate our many resources and opportunities and help you make new connections within our membership. STEP 1:  ONBOARDING

Upon joining the Collaborative, there are several important initial steps to take.
1. Champion Onboarding Meeting
Schedule and attend the Collaborative Champion Onboarding meeting, during which the Collaborative Director will review roles and responsibilities as well as member benefits, and answer all your questions. This initial meeting is specifically for the Champion(s); we can hold a separate info session for your community at a later time. See sample meeting agenda below.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE INSTITUTIONAL CHAMPION(S)
  • Payment of annual membership dues
  • Promote engagement and contributions by members of your community
  • Attend the Global Summit or ensure another delegate (max. of three) attends the summit
  • Register your institution for the annual Global Student Challenge
  • Ensure institutional compliance with Babson branding guidelines
  • Attendance at as many Collaborative Champion Roundtables as possible
  • Reading  Collaborative Fieldnotes (monthly member newsletter) and Quarterly Champion Updates ​​

After you have had a chance to explore the Member Portal and learn a little more about the Collaborative, the Collaborative team will conduct an onboarding meeting with new champion(s). What follows is a sample agenda for this meeting, but we will prioritize your questions and needs.

  • Introductions
 
  • The role of the Collaborative team and Primary Contact:
    • Regarding Collaborative programs and benefits, and to make connections with other members -- contact Jamie/Jennie
    • To engage directly with Babson College –-  contact your Babson Academy University Relations Director
 
  • The roles and responsibilities of the Institutional Champion(s)

  • Compliance with branding guidelines

  • Review membership benefits, special programs and opportunities, and upcoming deadlines
 
  • Navigating the Collaborative member portal

    • Student workshops
    • Global Summit
    • COIL Resources
    • MOU opportunity - to establish a graduate pathway for your community to study at Babson
    • Scholarships, Awards, and Discounts
 
  • Engaging others at your institution
    • Encourage them to join our mailing list and WhatsApp community (or send us their information and we will add them)
    • Encourage them to create a password to access the full Member Portal
    • Schedule a Collaborative information session for your colleagues
 
  • Introducing your institution to our Collaborative membership
    • Propose a summit session or host a webinar or community conversation
    • Apply for the Spotlight Award to highlight an innovative and impactful program at your institution
    • Share articles, research, unique programs via Fieldnotes, WhatsApp
    • Participate in the Summit New Member Showcase
    • Contribute to Collaborative Publications
 
  • Identify next steps and schedule a follow-up meeting
    • Schedule an info session with your faculty and staff
    • Attend an upcoming Champion Roundtable
  
2. Choose a Secondary Champion
A secondary champion can be a professor, administrator, assistant, anyone who can help you engage your community in Collaborative program and opportunities. Please email [email protected] with their name, email, and mobile phone number (for WhatsApp).

3. Preparing the Announcement
The Collaborative team will announce your institution joining the Collaborative on LinkedIn, in the WhatsApp group, and in the upcoming issue of Collaborative Fieldnotes (our monthly newsletter).  If you haven't already, please provide a campus photo and a brief
2-3 sentence summary description of your institution, including references to your entrepreneurship education portfolio/initiatives and anything unique about your school and entrepreneurship program.

STEP 2:  JOIN THE COMMUNITY

Before your onboarding meeting,  complete these steps:

  • Gain access to the Member Portal;
  • Join our dynamic WhatsApp group; and
  • Create a profile for the Faculty and Staff Directory.

5. Explore the Portal
Once we approve your request to access the Member Portal, you can start exploring.

6. Attend the Next Collaborative Champion Roundtable
CHAMPION ROUNDTABLES are exclusive quarterly gatherings where Babson Collaborative Champions connect with peers and Babson Academy leadership to exchange insights, stay informed on emerging opportunities, and help share the future of our global network.
  • Note:  We send a Quarterly Champion Update (email) to all Champions after each Roundtable to share news and updates.

STEP 3:  ENROLL YOUR COLLEAGUES

7. Get Your Community Engaged
Enroll your colleagues as members of the Collaborative community. There is no limit to how many educators (faculty, staff, students) at a member institution may access the Collaborative Portal, join the WhatsApp group, and more. The Collaborative team will provide you with materials to share with colleagues, but if you send me their contact information, I can add them to our mailing list and email them directly with instructions to engage with the Collaborative.

To help you engage your colleagues:

  • Below is sample language you can use in an introductory email to your colleagues.
